Flash back/ Flash forward

18:59:00 Giovanna Cerise 5 Comments

I have always tried to abstain from writing to explain or comment on my work. I have often limited myself to a few lines alluding to its inspiration.
Probably this choice can be sought, in whole or at least in part, in a sense of reservedness combined with the difficulty of trying to synthesize on paper the concepts, times, paths, and all kinds of implications that accompany the design and implementation of this type of work .
The nature of "Flashback / Flash Forward" has led me to jot down a few thoughts, to try to grasp and extend the subtle correspondences that are created between the author and his work in the time frame that spans the first of its realization, during it, and after. In fact the very idea behind the work, in parallel mirrors this process by transporting the present into the past and projecting it into the future, aware of the implacability of temporal laws, for what is present today will tomorrow be the past, and what is future will be present.
The tendency to emphasize and almost exacerbate the instability and impermanence of the perception of what has passed and of what is not yet is the leitmotif of "Flash Back / Flash Forward."
The observation point is always the present, which is personified and moves in a changing, elusive, undefined space. A present that almost forgets itself by peering, looking for some experience, some memories or imagining scenarios, in an obsessive, comforting, and/or perhaps, even heartbreaking way. It creates an indissoluble union between space and time; spatial wandering becomes temporary wandering.
The tension is felt through an optical research that creates rhythmic fractures that follow each other, overlapping and creating dissonance. Everything appears and disappears in a game of inside and outside, in the desire to create alienation effects, restlessness, suspended in an allusive and visionary atmosphere.
In this wandering, however, they appear as flashes of intimate spaces that isolate and force them to stop. They are moments of stasis, breaks that interrupt the anxiety of trying. Objects that materialize or vanishing figures metaphorically produce vague suggestions in the present.
The installation, formed mostly from simple geometric elements, is thus presented as a destructured form, almost shapeless, with the intent to create chaotic and changing moments. Inside there are spaces that vanish in the complex but, depending on the angle, they are perfectly visible. I gave them names:
The dream
The point of view
The desire
The lighteness
The bird
The impossible choice

l'impossibile scelta

From March 25 to 15 April will take place in Brescia (Italy) in "Contemporary space" an exhibition that brings together works inspired by Dada works, in which I am present with "Unknow".

http://www.linkartcenter.eu/archives/4354#more-4354

From a year Link Art Center, founded in 2011 by Lucio Chiappa, Fabio Paris and Domenico Quaranta, launched Dadaclub.online, "an online archive and a creative platform aimed at celebrating the legacy of DADA in the centenary of his birth, which took place in Zurich on February 5, 1916 ". Dadaclub. Online has provided high-quality original copies of a selection of Dadaist works and magazine covers, thanks to the availability of the "Collection Campiani"
Choose from the several works available has been difficult, but making guided by instinct I chose to use a work of Man Ray "Rayogram, 1924"

So I utilized an element of a 3D work I had done some time before using, contaminating and combining two elements born in completely different contexts.

The result is " Unknow"- Where the wind will bring?"

The catalogue is available:
