Memories at Berg by Nordan Art
Memories by Giovanna Cerise
An istallation inspired by the poem:
Do not chop away, shears, that face
Do not chop away, shears, that face,
alone in the mind that is dispersing,
do not turn her big, listening face
into my fog of always.
A chill comes down... The hard blow snaps
and the wounded acacia shakes off
the cicada's husk
in the first slime of November.
By Eugenio Montale, from the collection "Le Occasioni", 1939.
Version in English translated by LiteraryJoint.

Wagner wrote in a letter to Liszt ( December 1854):
“As I have never in life felt the real bliss of love, I must erect a monument to the most beautiful of all my dreams, in which, from beginning to end, that love shall be thoroughly satiated. I have in my head "Tristan and Isolde," the simplest but most full-blooded musical conception; with the "black flag" which floats at the end of it I shall cover myself to die”

Tristan und Isolde (Tristan and Isolde, or Tristan and Isolda, or Tristran and Ysolt) is an opera, or music drama, in three acts by Richard Wagner to a German libretto by the composer, based largely on the romance by Gottfried von Strassburg

The eternal suspense
Giovanna Cerise presents "The eternal suspense", supported by the Linden Endowment for the Arts
Friedrich Nietzsche publishes in 1871 "The birth of Greek tragedy" which highlights, among other things, that the history of ancient Greece is an interplay between the Apollonian and the Dionysian.
He flips the classic interpretation that Greek art is essentially Apollonian, thus expression of balance, harmony and measure. He also highlights another aspect of Greek civilization, the one linked to Dionysus, the Greek god symbol of chaos,of orgiastic drunkness,
Of the vitality unleashed that knows no limits and measures. And the moment when these two gods, Apollo and Dionysus, manage to find a balance is the one of Greek tragedy of Aeschylus and Sophocles. This balance then breaks especially with the prevalence appearance of rational and concealment of Dionysian side ..
This concept linked to the interpretation of art can be extended to our daily lives. The man is poised between two or more emotions, he is always in a delicate step, in a hazardous environment. Its location is never easy, he is a tightrope imprisoned in constant tension between his Dionysian side and the Apollonian one.
But you have really to choose? Or you have really to find a balance?....
Opening, Friday 15 th May 2015 at 1.30 pm SLT.
The recommended setting is Sunset.
Come to visit, i hope to see you there..
